FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Two TAG Heuer Limited Edition Carrera Heuer 02 Tourbillons

Way back at the start of 2018, TAG Heuer released two extremely limited edition Carrera Heuer 01's for the Las Vegas boutique. Both of these featured a 'roulette' style chapter ring around the edge of the dial and one of them featured a bezel covered in black diamonds. The plain bezel version was limited to 77 pieces and the diamond bezel model was only for seven lucky customers.

Well, they've done it again, only this time they've gone all out and produced a skeleton dial Heuer 02T tourbillon for Las Vegas. Unfortunately I can't find too much information on this one, although I did find a listing for it on a website called 'Topvegasbuyer.com' which shows the piece as having been sold. The peculiar thing is though that the picture shows the back of the watch, replete with Las Vegas printed display back, but it clearly shows that it is number 00/07. Which is a bit strange...

However, this photo (posted on the Calibre11 forum) shows the same caseback but with 01/07 printed on the case which suggests the one I found the listing for was possibly an advance 'press' model or something similar. But then again, if you were only making seven pieces would you really need a 'press' model?

In the process of trying to find out more about this new Las Vegas model I managed to stumble across another limited edition Heuer 02T tourbillon, this time made in collaboration with TAG Heuer ambassador Jimmy Butler (NBA).

At first glance you may be forgiven for wondering exactly what has been done to this watch to make it a limited edition... I know it took me a few seconds to notice the baby pink markers on the tips of the hour and minute hands and the chronograph seconds hand. Ah yes, now you see them!

Flip the watch over and there's more pink to be found obscuring the view of the movement... Admittedly it has been a long day (I'm typing this at 2:30AM), but again it didn't immediately strike me that the logo placed slap bang in the middle of the crystal back is a 'JB' for Jimmy Butler, yet according to 'usa.watchpro.com' that's what it is.

In case you are wondering about the baby pink colour choice, apparently it is inspired by his two year old daughter. Which is all very touching and everything, but I don't actually see why anyone else should really 'care' about that all that much. Especially when it comes to purchasing a $25,000 tourbillon Carrera. Or am I just a cold hearted son of a bitch?

If by some crazy chance you are a HUGE Jimmy Butler fan AND you love baby pink AND you have $25,000 to spend on an extremely limited edition Carrera Heuer 02T, then you'd better get yourself down to the Miami Design District Boutique because that is the only place you can buy this watch and did I mention there are only five of these in the world? Better hurry!

Technically these are both 2021 releases, so I'm not procuring scores and comments from the Council of Considered Opinion on these, I will probably include them in the end of year scoring though, I'm sure the Council will have some very special words for these two...
