FEATURE: My Top Ten Formula 1s by Daniel Lo

Welcome to the latest in our series celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the TAG Heuer Formula 1. Last year Daniel interviewed me for his website 'grandprixwatches.com', so when I came up with the idea of doing this 'Top Ten Formula 1s' thing, and seeing that Daniel is a rabid Formula 1 fan, who better to ask to join in than him?

So without further ado, it's over to you Daniel... and don't forget you can find all the 'Formula1@40' posts by clicking on the banner at the foot of this post.

10: CAZ101B.FT8028 Quartz Verstappen Limited Edition

Being a Formula 1 (both the TAG Heuer product line and racing series) nerd, I have to include the first Max Verstappen edition. The highlighted "18" on the tachymeter bezel doesn't make for a very evergreen design element, but serves as a nice historical nod to the young future world champion.

9: CAZ101AJ.FC6487 Quartz Senna Special Edition

TAG Heuer has released numerous Senna editions, but this one stands out to me because 2021 was the year my watch brain experienced a reawakening. Having foolishly sold my first and so far only TAG Heuer not long before that, I immediately jumped online to see what was on offer and this happened to be the Senna model at the time.

8: CAZ201E.FC6517 Calibre 16 Super Mario L/E

Long before I began following motorsports, I was a college kid missing apexes on Super Mario Kart. I was possibly also missing class, but that's neither here nor there. I know it wasn't TAG Heuer's only release, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to spend tourbillon money on the other one. Sorry, Mario!

7: CBZ2080.FT8091 Calibre 16 Red Bull Special Edition

2025's Formula 1 models look way too big on my child-sized wrist but they marked the first releases since TAG Heuer's return as Formula 1's Official Timekeeper, and for the first since I began following the series. While I do happen to like Red Bull, this pick could have easily been any of the other versions.

6: CAZ101H.BA084 Quartz Juan Manuel Fangio S/E

As a racing fan, it would be illegal to not include this one. It's Fangio!

5: WAH111B.BA0850 Quartz Alarm

I like oddball watches and within the Formula 1 line, an alarm feature is fairly unusual. I like the look of the second set of hands within the alarm subdial and its double-digit date, all within the context of an otherwise very familiar design language.

4: WAZ211A.BA0875 Calibre 7 GMT

A GMT complication in a Formula 1 is also very unusual, so I had to include this on the list too. I would not mind owning this one at all.

3: CAU1119.BA0858 Moto Racing Special Edition

Being a fan of both MotoGP and Formula 1, I of course had to include this great little branding oddity that is the Moto Racing Formula 1 with the FIM logo on the case back. While my personal surface-level research is still inconclusive, it's entirely likely that this was linked to TAG Heuer's stint as the Official Timing Partner of the FIM, the governing body of MotoGP. Worlds collide!

2: 374.513 Quartz Watch

So the TAG Heuer that I had sold just before my watch brain woke up... well, it was one of these. I wasn't its first owner, but I had it for just about the entirety of my 30s and a bit into my 40s before deciding to sell it in a moment of madness. I am still kicking myself.

1: 382.513/K Quartz Ukyo Katayama Limited Edition

Ukyo Katayama may not be a household name these days, but he has certainly made a mark in TAG Heuer history with his driver edition Formula 1. The striking colours and printed signature on the underside of the crystal make this an easy candidate for a grail watch, as well as the number one spot on my list.

Thank you Daniel for another interesting selection, and don't forget to check out Daniel's website at grandprixwatches.com
