Today we are joined by THF Forum alumni 'Imagwai', who has contributed to the blog occasionally since its inception and was one of the first members of the Council of Considered Opinion.
IMAGWAI: As a general comment… this was quite tough. There are so many F1s, and so many different styles that it almost doesn’t seem like the same watch. You’ll notice quite a lot of blue in my choices, though!
10th - CAU2010.BA0874 Calibre 16 Chronograph
This one is possibly looking a little dated now, but this one was a watch I seriously considered when looking for my first “luxury” watch purchase. In the end, a Carrera won out.
I had to include a black case F1 and this one with blue accents really hits the mark.
8th - CAZ1014.BA0842 Quartz Chronograph
7th - 470.513 Quartz Chronograph
Perhaps not as iconic as the 3-hander F1s, but this took similar styling and delivered a very distinctive and unique chronograph.
6th - 388.513 Quartz Watch
What’s not to like about the original colourful 3-hand plastic F1s. This colour scheme is my favourite I think.
5th - CAH1112.BA0850 - Quartz Chronograph
4th - CAZ101N.BA0842 Quartz Chronograph
Gulf colours make it an automatic win.
3rd - CAZ101AL.FT8052 Quartz Chronograph (Red Bull S/E)
Not a fan of Red Bull or Max, but I like the colours even so. This F1 is a well-balanced and good-looking piece, especially on that lovely chunky, good-quality rubber strap.
2nd - CAZ101AP.FT8056 Quartz Chronograph
I once saw these in person, I thought the green looked amazing and again I love the latest F1 rubber straps.
1st - WBY1112.BA0042 Solargraph Quartz Watch
I was instantly drawn to this one in the new F1 line-up due to a) price, b) perfect size, c) colouring. Exactly what the F1 should be. Except it’s missing a chronograph (it’s only one of two 3-handers in my list). But it works as it captures the 1980s F1 look.
