Hi and welcome to my blog.
I thought it was about time I updated this 'welcome page' as the last time I did it was in 2020! Which seems like a VERY long time ago...
As you can see from the header, my blog has been here for quite a while (October 2016) and there are literally thousands of posts contained herein. Generally speaking there is a new post every three days and a video inbetween (providing I can find a video on You Tube of course). Now obviously the blog format is quite awkward to navigate if you want to read back over eight years worth of content, but there is an index of posts by year which you can find here:
This can be accessed via the 'Index' tab at the top of the page if you are on a PC or laptop, or in the drop down menu if you are on a phone / tablet. The blog is designed for viewing on a computer and there are side panels providing links to various things on the right hand side, but of course you won't be able to see these on a phone. I am mindful of this and am trying to come up with ways to make the phone experience better, but it's not that easy really since the Blogger template only uses the basic elements for the mobile version.
If you are visiting on a PC or laptop you will see that on the right hand side there is a HUGE list of labels which you can use to find posts about specific models (assuming you know the part number), and you can also use it to find all the posts about specific ranges (Aquaracer, 3000, Carrera etc).
There are currently 28 members if I remember correctly, which means the scores you find at the bottom of the 'First Impressions' posts are not merely reflective of my taste, but aggregated through a panel of judges (who, if we are completely honest about it, are rather biased towards older, classic looking watches).
Okay, well I don't want to keep you here all day when there is so much of this blog to explore. I will leave a list of key posts at the bottom of the page, including the Watch of the Year posts for each year and also my report on my 2018 trip to the TAG Heuer manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Oh, and before I go, one more thing to mention. I also have another TAG Heuer blog called the 'TAG Heuer Enthusiast Gallery Blog', here you will find pictures of every TAG Heuer I have been able to find (about 3500 at the last count), this is updated as new watches come out and old watches come to light. If you think you know of a model which isn't featured please do let me know and I will add it on.

I have developed a classy, all-metal stand charging stand for the Tag Heuer Connected watch. I am trying to gauge interest in this product before I take it into production. Visit Tagstands.com to see pics. Please email me with your level of interest at dgiii@cox.net. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your project Rick, unfortunately I am not a fan of the Connected or Smart Watches in general.
DeleteVery nice Story.
ReplyDeleteYou are Doping a great job.
Keep on truckin'!

DeleteI’ve always loved the look of TAG watches but they have always been out of my price range. Bought my first TAG a couple of weeks ago (a F1 Calibre 5 ceramic) and I absolutely loved it. It feels such great quality, it looks fantastic and although not COSC certified runs at +1 to +3 sec per day!! Perfect watch for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog and for taking the time to leave a comment. Always nice to hear about people's watches, I'm glad you're happy with your TAG. With so many TAG haters out there, we have to fly the flag! :)
Rob
Afternoon, I currently have a Tag 6000 Series bought in 1995/96 in Texas for sale. Reference number WH514. It is 18 carat gold and has the rare gold face on it NOT the white. I am looking for a quick sale at £2,500. It may be something you would be interested in?
ReplyDeleteI can be contact also at damionmillward@hotmail.com
The watch is currently listed on Gumtree and I am located in Yorkshire, England. You will find it easily with photographs and additional details.
ReplyDeleteHello, just found your excellent blog. I've owned a TAG WK1112/0 for a number of years now and I am looking for a replacement rubber strap. I was wondering if you knew the original part number for the rubber strap? I believe, but not 100% certain, that the original band that came with the watch is either part number BT0702 OR FT8002? Not sure if you can confirm and/or know the differences?
ReplyDeletePlease let me know if you get a chance.
Thank you!
Hi
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment, much appreciated. The part number for the correct rubber strap is FT8002 as you suggested. It's a 20mm lug width, so other straps will fit, but the FT8002 fills the lugs properly and will look so much better, definitely worth the extra money.

Thanks for your reply and info Rob. Would you know off hand what the differences are (if any) between the BT0702 OR FT8002 straps?
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Hi
DeleteI'm afraid I don't, but... BT numbers are only used when ordering aftermarket straps. So you'll never see a watch with BT0702 in the number. It's possible, but you'd have to check, that a BT0702 could be a FT8002 without the buckle, since they might assume you are replacing the rubber but already have the buckle. However, Googling BT0702 suggests that may not be the answer... okay, so I Googled FT8002 and that shows the strap without the buckle. Which seems the wrong way around to me! :) I think you need to check before ordering, hope this helps.

Hi! Love your writing and your horological journey. I have a simple question: Tag Heuer Super Professional 1000m vs Aquagraph. You have to pick one and only one :)
ReplyDeleteHi
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog, glad you are enjoying it! Tough question, as I have the Aquagraph I guess would have to say that, but I must admit in the future I would like to get my hands on the 1000 Super Professional as well!
Rob
Thanks! The Aquagraph seems like awesome value for money I must say. It's hard to choose though. The 1000m is a mean looking watch. Coolest design I've seen since I got a Sinn U2. Have you ever serviced your Aquagraph?
ReplyDeleteHi
DeleteI don't wear it that often, it is a chunky thing on the bracelet, I'm seriously considering getting a rubber strap for it to make it a bit lighter and more wearable. I haven't serviced it as yet, I wear my automatics so infrequently that it doesn't seem worth it - the way I look at it if they were lying in a shop for ten years they wouldn't service them, so if they are lying in the box what's the difference. I do wind my autos every month though to move the oil about. I think what convinced me was I saw a video about an Urwerk I think, and it had a dial on the back which moved every time you wound it to indicate when it needed servicing. It makes a lot more sense to me, a bit like servicing a car when it's done a certain number of miles. Plus I only tend to wear my autos one night at a time, so I never really notice if they are keeping good time, though I do check them occasionally and they all seem to be okay so far. I quite like Sinn, actually I'm just about to buy a Carrera that reminds me of a Sinn (CV2A80).
Would you take the 1000 in black or plain steel? Black looks cool, but finding one without damage is going to be tough...
Rob
I want steel. The bead blasted bracelet on the 1000m is one of the reasons I love it. It looks awesome. I've never been a fan of PVD unless it is very, very worn. Like my brother said: It makes metal look like plastics :)
ReplyDeleteSinn has a very interesting copper sulfate capsule that indicates when it has sucked up enough moisture to require service.
https://www.sinn.de/en/Ar-dehumidifying_Technology.htm
Yes I think steel is the way to go myself. That capsule is a good idea, I think I've maybe seen that on a video on the Urban Gentry watch channel...

hi sir could you please connect me up with the fellow in your video that shows him replacing the tube and crown in a tag Heuer aquaracer? I am located in Connecticut and looking to send in a few tags I have to get similar work done to them. i'm Janice and my email is janicenfredn@gmail.com and thanks :)
ReplyDeleteHi
DeleteI'm afraid I don't know who or where they are, I suspect they might be in the UK. If you click on the video where it says 'Youtube' it will open the video in youtube, you could try sending them a message directly and see?

ReplyDeleteHello Rob
ReplyDeleteIve recently picked up this awesome Grand Carrera https://www.calibre11.com/cav511h-fc6306/ .
Cannot see on your site.
You may want to add?
Regards
Darren
Hi Darren
DeleteThat's a supercool GC you've got there - I've checked the gallery blog and it is on there, but no I don't think I have written about that one as yet, I will make a note to look into it further. It should be in my 'History of the Grand Carrera' post though... http://tagheuerenthusiast.blogspot.com/2020/09/history-tag-heuer-grand-carrera-2008.html
Rob
Dear Rob,
ReplyDeleteThank you for this blog, have found the information useful.
I have the opportunity to buy what is described as a Tag Heuer "Sapphire Crystal" Formula 1 Men's Wrist Watch, CAH1211 EBD8794. However, I can not seem to find this watch number or strap number on your website, can you tell me is this is an authentic Tag Heuer watch. Thank you. Regards Khobi-Jane @ Cloudbase Paragliding
Hi
DeleteThanks for visiting the blog and leaving a message. While it's impossible for me to verify the authenticity of the watch you are looking at, I can confirm that the reference number does exist. It is featured on my gallery blog:
http://tagheuerenthusiastgallery.blogspot.com/2020/03/cah1211ba0863.html?q=cah1211
And also it is on the TAG Heuer website. It is a 41mm white ceramic and steel quartz F1 (which will have a sapphire crystal) and also has small diamond hour markers on the dial.
I believe what is confusing you slightly is that I think the seller has given you the serial number off the caseback and you have taken this to be the strap code. TAG don't put the strap codes on the case back because they can be sold on different straps. The proper code for the watch is CAH1211.BA0863... hope this is helpful. For what it's worth I doubt if the watch would be fake, I don't remember ever seeing any fake ceramic F1s, especially not the less popular models.
Regards
Rob
Dear Rob,
DeleteThank you so much for your quick response, the reason I am querying it is because even though I saw your reference above before writing, the face of this particular watch is black. Identical in every way to the white one above , but black face and dark grey on the strap, and I can not find a reference to one like this anywhere. But maybe a less popular model as you state above?
Okay... so now I am getting a little suspicious of this watch. If it has the code CAH1211 on the back it should definitely be white dial, white bezel and white centre links on the bracelet. I can't find a black version of this, but there is the CAH1210 which is the same but without the diamonds on the dial. The bracelet should have black ceramic centre links though, not dark grey - could be the lighting in the photo?
DeleteI will send you an email, if you can send me photos I may be able to be more helpful
Rob
Sorry, I tried to email but it is not recognized.

I do have photo of front and back

ReplyDeleteThank you.
I have a monaco caw211C-0, does anyone know why the date numbers 1 - 10 are in bold yet the following 11 -31 are not bold. It's a great timekeeper but this small detail has always annoyed me
ReplyDeleteHi, that's a very curious anomoly. Maybe you should try asking on the THF forums?
DeleteWhat's the THF ?
ReplyDeleteIt's the new name for the Calibre 11 forum, if you are on a laptop you should see a banner on the right hand side of the screen (quite far down). If not just Google THF Forum or Calibre 11 Forum and follow the link.
DeleteRob
I have a Tag Heuer 1500 and don't understand the serial number under the model number.
ReplyDeleteIt's a WD1221-K-20 with a serial number under that of: BS2511
so:
WD1221-K-20
BS2511
Thank you
Just wanted to say how helpful this site is, so, so helpful and I will be forever grateful of the wealth of knowledge available.
ReplyDeleteAnyone able to help me out? I need a bezel click spring for a 765.406. Does it share the same part as any other models? I've found some on eBay for a few of the CK models. Any help would be much appreciated.
Hello, browsing the web I found this interesting blog about Tag Heuer and its beautiful examples.
ReplyDeleteI'll get to the point, does anyone have knowledge or help on how to restore a bezel on a Tag Heuer WA1214 or CA1213 model, those from the 90s that were and still are sensational for many of us?
I have tried to paint them by hand but they no longer have the "marking" on the plastic, they no longer have the numbers marked and it is impossible for the paint to make the shape of the number and freehand it is almost impossible to make them..
I have already checked spare parts on EBAY but I want to try to restore my 2 labels that I have saved for several years. It would be very helpful if you could give me some good advice (it should be noted that I have seen how several people on the networks have labels of those models with completely NEW bezels as if they came from the factory and as far as I know Tag Heuer does not sell bezels but they ask you for You send the watch to their technical service and they install it themselves, but it can take several weeks or even months. I don't know if these people have managed to replicate the bezel or restore it freehand)
I'm just looking for someone to help me with ideas. advice, etc. Thanks in advance!
Hi. Welcome to the blog. Your best bet is to visit TAG Heuer Forums and join there. Someone is actually in the process of designing a replacement bezel so that might be of interest to you
