Welcome to the second part of this huge seven part series. In this post we take a look at the period between 2013 and 2016, which for TAG Heuer included the arrival of Swiss watchmaking legend Jean Claude Biver, the skeleton dial Carrera and the first affordable tourbillon Carreras. This era coincided with my full on entry into the watchmaking universe and as such does kind of hold a special place in my heart. Plus, somehow being into watches back then seemed a lot more 'fun' and a lot less... like a business opportunity. Hey ho, I guess we have Covid to thank for that huh.

2013 NON CATALOGUE WATCHES
Quite a few non catalogue watches here including a confusing situation where the Mikropendulum has two different part numbers (according to different sites on the internet) - CAR2B82 or CAR5B80. This is compounded by my TAG Heuer Masterpieces catalogue which gives it another part number CAR5B82, which I assume is a printing error (?). I was tending towards the CAR2B82 being correct and the CAR5B80 being incorrect, but then Nicholas Biebuyck's Carrera book gives the Mikropendulum the number CAR5B80...
So, either there are two slightly different watches and the CAR5B82 is a printing error, or there are three different watches that look extremely similar. I tend to believe CAR2B82 exists as it looks very similar to a CAR2B83 and also Watchfinder have listed a Mikropendulum as a CAR2B82 and presumably they would have taken the number off the paperwork or indeed the watch itself. But then CAR5B80 has credible listings on the internet and of course Nicholas would have direct access to the TAG Heuer archives so he should be right too. Googling CAR5B82 as found in the 'Masterpieces' catalogue brings up no results at all so I assume that is a mistake.
The obvious answer could be that the watches look the same but are made of different materials, but they all seem to say they are grade 5 titanium. So, I really don't know... if you can shed any light on this please leave a comment below.
