FEATURE: Autavia Heuer02 UAE Limited Edition

CBE2113.FC8226

Hot on the heels of the Jack Heuer 85th Anniversary Autavia, comes news of this new Limited Edition watch(limited to just 150 pieces), which was apparently developed in partnership with retailer Ahmed Seddiqi and Sons and costs AED21,200 (£4350) and is only available in the UAE.

Now, while I've not really succumbed to the Autavia's charms... I must admit the lighter dial versions of this watch do seem nicer than the black dial. I definitely appreciated the smaller text on the bezel of the Jack Heuer, as it seemed to solve one of the major design flaws of the original - but strangely, even here with the original text size the problem seems less of an issue.

But even so, a brown bezel (still aluminium by the way) watch is never going to be one to add to my collection, especially not on a brown leather strap (perish the thought). And yet somehow, I kind of like this... but I still think the best Autavia limited edition would be the Jo Siffert style panda dial with the blue hands, I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

The watch is to be launched at Dubai Watch Week, albeit only 9 will be available. A further 90 will be released in December with the final 91 ready for sale in the New Year. Somehow I don't think they will struggle to find buyers...

  1. I don't share your opinions regarding the Autavia UAE edition. Brown watches can be quite interesting as they often become something a bit more interesting or "pop for the eye" than just standard black/white dialed watches, but without being too much "in your face". Almost a bit like many blue dialed watches out there on the market...

With that said, I feel that the UAE edition looks way better on the press photos than the actual photos I've started to see fly around the internet. The dial looks much "creamier" on the stock photos, something that was also used as something like a USP. I'm way too happy with my current "standard/black" Autavia for the moment so no more purchases for me. But if TAG released the Autavia in some limited edition blue version and hour/minute scale on the bezel it would be hard not to pull the trigger.

    1. Hi Lugduno
Thanks for visiting my blog and for taking the time to leave a comment it is much appreciated. A blue dial on the Autavia, that's an interesting idea. I presume you mean a blue dial with silver or white sub dials? Sounds interesting!

    2. I didn't put too much thought into it, but a blue dial with white sub dials sounds like something that would make me even consider to sell my Autavia. Think of something like the Speedmaster Gemini IV edition, yum!

    3. It would certainly give it a more modern edge I think...

  2. Judging by your current collection I also seriously doubt you would be adding any Autavia to your current watch collection any time soon

    1. Hi Watchurstyle
Thanks for visiting and leaving a comment, always appreciated. No the Autavia isn't really my style, but I do like the Siffert dial on the mid 2000s Autavia, but not the case. If they did that with a black strap then I'd be keener, but as always it comes down to funds, all the Autavias are £4000+ and for me to spend that kind of money I've got to be absolutely blown away.
